Dental Lab Plaster / Ceramist Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Dental Lab Plaster Technician to join our dynamic dental laboratory team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and managing plaster models used in the fabrication of dental prosthetics, restorations, and orthodontic appliances. Your expertise will ensure precise and high-quality dental models that serve as the foundation for successful patient outcomes. Duties

  • Mix, pour, and set plaster and stone materials to create accurate dental models from impressions received from dental practitioners
  • Trim, finish, and refine plaster models to meet exact specifications using hand tools and laboratory equipment such as micrometers for precise measurements
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace, adhering strictly to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
  • Collaborate with dental technicians and other laboratory staff to ensure models are prepared according to detailed specifications and deadlines
  • Inspect finished models for quality assurance, ensuring they accurately represent the patient’s dentition and meet all technical standards
  • Document all procedures meticulously in medical records using appropriate medical terminology and coding systems such as HIPAA compliance standards
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of laboratory tools, including CAD (Computer-Aided Design) systems when applicable, to ensure optimal performance

Requirements

  • Proven laboratory experience with a focus on dental fabrication, including working with plaster, stone, or similar materials
  • Knowledge of dental anatomy, terminology, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental modeling
  • Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient information and ensure safety standards are met
  • Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as micrometers for detailed work accuracy
  • Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to follow complex instructions precisely
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software applications used in dental laboratories is a plus
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with dentists, lab staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Willingness to stay current with advancements in dental materials, infection control protocols, and medical documentation standards
